EMERGENCY FIRST AID

Emergency First Aid is a one-day training program that provides excellent ‘hands-on’ skill development to help each participant deal effectively with the next emergency.

The course reviews basic first aid for Airways, Breathing and Cardiovascular emergencies plus bleeding, shock, head and spinal injuries and minor wound care.

Other areas of concern such as allergic reactions, seizures, playground or sports injuries plus various medical conditions or special needs can also be included to provide a specific focus for the group.

When you make the decision to help in an emergency, your knowledge and skills in priority management can make the difference between life and death for your patient.  Early, effective management can also make the difference between complete recovery and permanent disability.

Helping in an emergency involves a ‘layered’ approach.  Don’t worry that you are not an expert – you can always help.  Every year countless bystanders give help in emergencies.  Some phone for help, some comfort the injured person or family members, some give first aid and still others help keep order at the emergency scene.  There are many things that you can do to help.

Training in Emergency First Aid ensures effective management in the following areas…

-         scene safety and crowd control

-         reassurance and assistance to the injured (minimize injury aggravation)

-         immediate priority management of the airway, breathing and circulation problems (includes CPR)

-         early determination of ‘911’ protocols and…

-         early access to first aid and patient comfort materials

Training builds confidence.  You can make a difference.
